WBFSH Rankings 2021: Holstein on the ranks two, three and ten

(Elmshorn/Kiel) The World Breeding Federation of Sport Horses (WBFSH) has published the annual rankings of the breeding associations for the past season regarding internationally successful show horses. For the Holstein Horse Breeders' Association, the result is second place in eventing, third place in show jumping and tenth place in dressage. This makes the Holsteiner Verband the best German breeding association in the ratings for jumping and eventing.

Eventing: second place
A total of 60 WBFSH-recognized stud or breeding books were included in the eventing ranking, in which the six best horses of each association earn points. The Stud Book du Cheval Selle Français (SBSF) is positioned at the top by a narrow margin. The top horses from the country between the seas are in silver position in the highly regarded ranking. In 2020, they were still in fifth place. For example, the Olympic champion London (Laura Collett/GBR) by Landos-Quinar (Ocke Riewerts, Alkersum), Stamm 3200, and the newly crowned individual and team European champion JL Dublin (Nicola Wilson/GBR) by Diarado-Canto (Volker Götsche-Götze, Groß Buchwald), Stamm 1907, contributed to this success. Furthermore, the European Championship silver medalist fischerWild Wave (Michael Jung/GER) by. Water Dance xx-Acobat II (ZG Marks/Muffels, Sommerland), Stamm 6879, the five-star successful Carjatan S (Christoph Wahler/GER) by Clearway-Galant vert xx (Carl-Friedrich Söhrmann, Groß Buchwald), Stamm 6788, Casino (Dirk Schrade/GER) by. Casillas-Claudio (Behrend Jacobs, Ostenfeld), Stamm 1020 and Cartania (Felix Vogg/SUI) by Cartani-Clinton (Günter Koch, Vollerwiek), Stamm 2895, valuable points for the ranking. London, who was decorated with Olympic gold, also leads the individual eventing ranking and also gives his breeder Ocke Riewerts first place in the breeder ranking.

Jumping: Third place
After ranking eighth in the WBFSH ranking of the best jumping studbooks in the Corona year 2020, horses with Holstein pedigrees climbed to bronze in the 2021 season (until September 30, 2021). Only the Belgisch Warmbloedpaard (BWP) and Selle Français (SBSF) collected more points. The team silver medalist of the European Championships in Riesenbeck, C Vier (David Will/GER) by Cardento-Concorde (Wilma Wolters, Groningen), Stamm 8818, contributed significantly to this result. So did Quel Homme de Hus (Jérôme Guéry/BEL) by Quidam de Revel-Candillo (Dr. Andreas Kosicki, Berlin), Stamm 4847, who won team bronze at the Olympic Games, among others. In addition, the current top placings of Con Quidam RB (Sanne Thijssen/NED) by Quinar-Cardino (ZG Bröcking, Borken), Stamm 1446, Confu (Laura Kraut/USA) by Contact Me-Cambridge (Kai Gerken, Lasbek), Stamm 4705, Cochello (Piergiorgio Bucci/ITA) by. Casall-Cartani (Reimer Detlef Hennings, Bendorf), Stamm 1298, and Bardolina (Maria Deslauriers/CAN) by Clarimo-Landos (Ute Jürgensen, Sehestedt), Stamm 671, were included in the ranking on the international stage.

Dressage: tenth place
Even though Holstein's core competence does not lie in breeding dressage horses, they occupy a respectable tenth place in the WBFSH ranking. This is not least due to the successes of the Olympic reserve and European team champion Annabelle (Helen Langehanenberg/GER) by Conteur-Linaro (Günther Fielmann, Schierensee), Stamm 776. Also competing for Austria at the Olympic Games and European Championships was Te Quiero SFI (Christian Schumach) by Totilas-Loutano (Hans Reisinger, Wolnzach), Stamm 5302. The six horses scored for the ranking also included Curiosity (Antonia Ramel/SWE) by. Clinsmann-Carpaccio (Kurt Thomsen, Bunsoh), Stamm 5964, Coco Chanel H.S. (Alexandra Eiband/GER) by Lorentin I-Lucky Lionell (Heinrich Sommer, Kirchdorf/Inn), Stamm 241, Al Martino (Joanne Vaughan/GEO) by. Almoretto-Lorentin I (Witt Pferdezucht GbR, Wellinghusen), Stamm 2067, as well as Devanto (Tinne Vilhelmson Silfvén/SWE) by De Chirico-Lorentin I (Holger Wesselmann, Kellinghusen), Stamm 49. Last year, the Holstein Verband was still ranked 13th in the dressage ranking.

So that's them, the best Holsteins according to the WBFSH ranking - and several of them started their careers at a Holstein auction: European Team Champion JL Dublin, the winner of the Olympic Test Event and team silver medalist at the European Championships fischerWild Wave and the four-star champion Cartania once made their first big appearance in the Holstenhallen in Neumünster. Soon, more young hopefuls will gallop through the round there when the 51st licensing and elite riding horse auction takes place from October 28 to 30.
