The decision was made at the last jump by the last rider: France's final rider Simon Delestre, who had finished the first round with a zero, not only took a pole on the way with Tinka's Hero Z (by Tinka's Boy) in the second round, but after a delay also took one at the last jump - and thus Team Germany's victory at the Nations' Cup in Rabat, Morocco, was certain!
It was very important that the youngest rider in the German team and starting rider, Sophie Hinners on Churchill (by Cassito), was one of only two riders (besides the Canadian Sara Tindale on Elco Van Hof Ter Naillen) who managed to deliver two clear rounds as the basis for the team's success. Team manager Dietmar Gugler then sent Nicola Pohl with Exelero (by Chacco-Blue) into the race in second place. She completed the first round without touching a pole and with a time fault, in round two she stayed within the time, but had a drop. Rene Dittmer followed in third place on Burlington Riverland (by Mylord Carthago). In the first round there was already a rattle at the third jump and then again in the triple combination on the final line. But in round two, only one pole fell, which meant the final result. The final rider, David Will, with My Prins Van Dorperheide (by Zilverstar T), delivered a clear ride in round two, after an unusual 13 points had spoiled his performance in the first round. With this, silver was safe and it was only a matter of waiting to see what the last of the leading French riders did. After Simon Delestre's ride, the final result was: 13 points for Germany, 16 points for France - that was the victory.
Behind France, Switzerland was in third place in the end, ahead of the hosts Morocco, coached by Philippe Le Jeune, which was of course still celebrated with the loudest applause.
