It is surprising news to hear from Wiesbaden, the capital of Hesse.
The well-known Whitsun tournament will not take place again this year.

"We all hang with all our hearts on our event and the decision was very difficult!", gives the president of the Wiesbadener Reit- und Fahr-Club (WRFC), Kristina Dyckerhoff, on behalf of her fellow board members.

The Corona pandemic and the uncertain legal situation were decisive factors for the cancellation of the tournament, she said. "The uncertainty of the Corona situation is a critical factor," Dyckerhoff explained. "The development of the pandemic makes the idea of celebrating a happy horse festival in the Biebrich Palace Park almost impossible."

Also a big deciding factor, he said, has been the Equine Herpes Virus. The current security requirements, such as a separate quarantine tent at the show. This had not been possible in the Schlosspark in Wiesbaden.
"To meet these requirements, you need, among other things, a lot of space, for example, for the construction of a quarantine tent, which we hardly have in this form in the Biebricher Schlosspark."
The safety of riders and horses is the top priority was clearly emphasized by the organizers.

Nevertheless, Dyckerhoff emphasizes that it is to continue with the tournament in the coming year in any case.

"Postponed is by no means canceled - after two years without PfingstTurnier, we will pour even more energy and strength into the 84th LONGINES PfingstTurnier Wiesbaden. As of now, we are looking forward with great anticipation to June 3-6, 2022."
