The Burghof

Tradition and passion enter into a symbiosis at Burghof Brodhecker in Riedstadt-Wolfskehlen. An interplay of breeding, sales and training for three generations. This makes the Burghof unique.

The Burghof already has a long tradition. In 1967, Lina and Heinz Brodhecker built the first parts of today's riding facility on the former grounds of a castle dating back to the 12th century. At that time, the couple decided to create a very modern dairy farm for that time. Volker Brodhecker, the eldest son of the family, actively supported his parents and decided to do an apprenticeship as a rider.
With a view to taking it over in the future, Lina and Heinz Brodhecker steadily expanded the Burghof. From 1980 on, the first riders arrived at the facility and a riding school was opened.
Due to the prospering demand, a second riding hall was built in 1994 in order to be able to offer extended possibilities at the Burghof.
In 1995 Volker Brodhecker married his present wife Susanne Biederbeck-Brodhecker. She herself comes from a family of breeders in the north of Hesse. After studying agricultural sciences at the University of Giessen, she and her husband decided to strengthen the community at the Burghof. Their three sons Philipp, Hendrik and Johannes expanded the family happiness in the course of time.
It is precisely through the spirited, disciplined but above all passionate commitment of Volker and Susanne Brodhecker that the Burghof continued to grow to its present size.
The Burghof team has always been forward-looking. In 1999, the couple started an initially small stallion farm. Initially, the stallions stationed there only mated by natural jumping. Due to the high demand for their stallions, the stallion station was further expanded. At the present time, nearly 20 stallions are available in the disciplines of jumping, dressage and eventing.

The Burghof itself continued to grow over time. In 2007, the large Odenwald Hall was built, as well as additional stables in the following years.
Burghof Brodhecker and its team are characterized by one thing in particular: enormous versatility. On the one hand, the family has been breeding and training show jumpers and dressage horses for several generations.
On the other hand, the Brodhecker family attaches great importance to the training of riders. Together with Elisabeth Brodhecker-Schulz, Volker Brodhecker's sister, they run a riding school with associated therapeutic riding. Volker Brodhecker himself is also known as a renowned trainer.
The Pferdewirtschaftsmeister has already accompanied trainees to their final exams several times. This also applies to his youngest son Johannes, who was able to pass his examination as the best in his course with a Stensbeck award.
His heir as trainer will be his eldest son Philipp, who recently passed his examination to become a Pferdewirtschaftsmeister.
In addition to the training of riders and horses, the sale of horses also plays a major role at the Burghof. Through its own breeding and training, the team sells both ambitious leisure horses and top-class show jumpers. Hendrik Brodhecker has taken on this marketing task. After studying business administration at the University of Mannheim, he now supports the team in the areas of riding and marketing.
In the future, Susanne and Volker Brodhecker hope to welcome their sons as successors in order to maintain and expand the unique diversity of the Burghof.
