The final day of the Meßmer Trophy and the German Eventing Championships of the eventers could not have been more exciting. Germany's most successful event rider Michael Jung was able to use his experience in the jumping saddle and rode the 13-year-old Hanoverian fischerChipmunk FRH to perfection to win the CCI4*-S Meßmer Trophy and thus also the gold medal: "I am overjoyed, fischerChipmunk jumped so great today. When you start here at the start, of course you want to ride zero. Nevertheless, you have to give the horse a good feeling so that it stays loose. I hope I've got the hang of it now. Looking ahead to the Olympic Games in Tokyo, the rider added: "The title in this special year means a lot to me. For my horse and me it was probably a bit of luck that the Olympics were postponed. It gave us an extra year to grow together as a team." Like the winner, runner-up Sandra Auffarth also finished the competition with her dressage score and worked her way up from sixth place with two clear rounds after the dressage to second place continuously. The jumping ability of her 12-year-old Viamant du Matz, paired with Auffarth's experience in advanced show jumping competitions, gave the silver medalist an extra dose of confidence: "At such an important tournament, I am naturally a bit tense before the start. But it relaxes me to know how great my horse jumps and he proved that again today. The fact that we can now compete at the Olympic Games - with only three team riders - makes me especially proud." The feat of bringing home his dressage result was also achieved by Andrew Hoy who's competing for Australia, who was able to secure third place as a result: "Vassily de Lassos is really an exceptional horse. We have been working on the dressage for so long and I am very happy about the positive development. I was pretty tense before today's jumping, because there was a lot at stake. But since my horse normally goes faultlessly, I was a bit more reassured. Also jumped excellently again today and was full of energy." Julia Krajewski and Amande de B'Néville were still in second place before the final jumping round. For a clear round, the pair, who otherwise put in excellent performances throughout the weekend, lacked the necessary and ended up in fifth place in the CCI4* class with one clear round. in the CCI4*-S. "The first 10 minutes after the show jumping I was still angry about our mistake, especially because my horse jumped so well and the mistake should not have been In the award ceremony, however, I then realized, what Mandy and I had achieved together. That's when it really got to me. gripped."
