Zakrzow: Ferdinand BB wins dressage Worldcup

Zakrzow (fn-press). In Zakrzow, Poland, the Dressage World Cup of the Central European League invited to the arena. Olympic Champion Jessica von Bredow-Werndl (Aubenhausen) won with the Hanoverian Ferdinand BB ahead of the Australian Kristy Oatley who lives in Germany.

Two World Cup dressage competitions were on the calendar this weekend. While the strong Western European League started the new season in Herning (Denmark), the series in the Central European League (largely Eastern Europe) was continued in Zakrzow, Poland. Olympic champion Jessica von Bredow-Werndl had also decided to start in Poland. She is riding the twelve-year-old Hanoverian gelding Ferdinand BB. His name suffix "BB" refers to his owner Beatrice Bürchler-Keller, who also owns the Trakehner Gold mare Dalera BB.

Ferdinand BB, son of Florencio out of a Lanciano dam, did not yet find his top form in the Grand Prix. Several mistakes crept in at the trot, in the passage and on the final line. A score of 70.658 percent was only enough for sixth place. In the freestyle the bay horse then showed that it is also possible to ride almost faultless: Victory for Jessica von Bredow-Werndl with 78.78 percent.

The Australian Kristy Oatley, who lives in Lütjensee near Hamburg, followed in second place with her long-time show partner Du Soleil by De Niro. The Hanoverian gelding, now 17 years old, was scored 77.575 percent. They were joined in third place by Austria's Timna Zach and the KWPN gelding Farant (77.530). Fourth place went to Lena Waldmann (Werder). The rider from the Bonhomme Stud just outside Berlin competed with the twelve-year-old stud stallion Fiderdance (by Fidertanz) and received a smooth 76 percent. The five-member judging panel, which had repeatedly attracted attention at this show due to their very different points of view, could hardly reach a consensus on this pair either, the percentages fluctuated between 72 and just under 80 percent. hen
