A few days ago, a decision was issued in a sensational case. The tribunal of the FEI had suspended three riders due to the banned substance Carboxy-THC , a metabolite of cannabis.
In the cases of Qatari showjumper Sheikh Ali Al Thani and Bassem Mohammed, urine samples were taken and tested positive for "cannabis" during the CSIO4*-W Olympic Qualifier in Rabat, Morocco.
Egyptian showjumper Mohamed Talaat also tested positive for carboxy-THC at the African Games-S in Rabat, August 20-24, 2019.

All riders deny having consumed or inhaled cannabis. They give as a possible explanation that they had been in a shisha bar in Rabat, where one of their shishas had been contaminated with cannabis.

In the three final awards, the FEI Arbitration Tribunal imposed a two-year ban on each athlete, effective June 17, 2021. Talaat was charged a fee of 2,000 francs. From June 17, 2021, the results of all athletes will be disqualified. For Mohamed Talaat, this includes his success at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which led to the disqualification of the Egyptian team from the team event.
